May 27 - I finally reformatted my hard drive!!! Now my computer is more or less working perfectly. I did, however, find out that my 80GB slave hard drive is completely fried. Dead. Deceased. No more. This is an EX-HARD DRIVE! So all those files... gone. It's okay though, because I can get most of it back. Not everything. Another problem of note was I lost half my music. One of my 4GB DVD's full of music - dead. Any band after M is now gone. Luckily, all the Metallica and Madonna music files were still there because I know how much they hate losing their precious money. Anywho, now my computer actually works and all teh viruseseses are gone... hopefully.
What's happened since March? Hmmm...
I produced and directed a sketch comedy show in Hollywood - Monty Pythong - an all-female cast of Monty Python sketches. We sold out every night and people loved it so much that we had a second run. In fact, we've decided to continue on with the show in some form or another. We'll probably put in new sketches and mix up who plays what character, and hopefully we'll do a fresh run every month or two.
Midsummer Night's Dream is now over. I played Starveling in the Rude Mechanicals. Not many lines, but a whole lot of comedy. I was basically the physical humor in the show, falling down about 5 times a show. Although the audience numbers weren't outstanding, I have to say above all else that this show was incredibly entertaining. Even people who hate watching Shakespeare enjoyed this modern retelling.
I made some new friends - Linus, Jeanine, and John - who have invited me over to their place several times for dinner/poker/video games. I also met a bunch of new people at a birthday party and a couple UT alumni events. New people galore! Oh - and I helped someone with casting a show... where I met even more new people.
I got cast in a couple student films at the Art Institute of California. "To Be Immortal" was shot last week, where I played a young Hitler's best friend. Ironic? Next week I will be in "Sex and the Pregnant Man," where I will play a guy obsessed with pregnant women. There's also some irony there too I'm sure.
On to sports...
Texas Men's Basketball fell short of the National Title this year, losing to LSU in the Elite 8. Eh. At least Texas played some exciting games in the tournament. UCLA lost a boring title game to Florida, very eclipsed by some exciting Sweet 16 games. Now all the Texas players are leaving (Tucker, Aldridge, Gibson, M. Williams, Paulino, and Buckman), but hopefully the highly touted incoming freshman class will take us to glory.
Men's Tennis lost to Pepperdine in the National Semi-final, who went on to win the title. Roger Gubser used to live next to me in Jester.
My Softball team is amazing! I am watching them play Washington on ESPN in the regional final as I type this. Scratch that - we just won. Texas Softball is going to the College World Series of softball for the 4th time in 10 years (oh, by the way, Texas Softball is only 10 years old). If Texas makes it to the final, hopefully I will make it to Oklahoma City. These girls really deserve that National Title.
The Astros were doing very well early in the season, but they've been losing a lot lately - the exact opposite of the last two years. I hope Clemens will come and save the day.
I did make it to a Dodger game this year and even managed to park for free not too far from the stadium. Linus will complain that we had to walk up hill in the sun, but I'd rather get some exercise and sweat than pay ten bucks.
Movies I've seen lately: "Borat" and "The Hoax." Borat is about a foreigner that comes to learn about America. HILLARIOUS! If you get offended easily, don't see it. The Hoax (Richard Gere, Marsha Gay-Harden) is based on the true story where a guy wrote a fake biography on Howard Hughes. It reminded me of Catch Me If You Can. It's worth seeing it once when it comes out. V for Vendetta was also really good. Ice Age 2 was hillarious, better than the first. King Kong was so-so. The monkey and natives were the only good parts of that movie.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the T-Mobile photo shoot. We got to dress like punks at a concert and crowd surf a couple people. Lots of my friends were there, so it was a ton of fun. I also did a photo shoot for some school where I played a groom being carried through the front doorstep by the bride. It was fun because I got to work with my friend Jill.
So that's all I can think of for now. I will be out of town June 1-17, making a trip to Houston, Austin, and hopefully Oklahoma City. Maybe I'll update this when I get back...
