MARCH 21 - Yeah... so it's been a while since I've updated my website. Why? Well, back in December I decided I needed to reformat my hard drive. I've been postponing pretty much everything on my computer waiting to reformat. I will do it soon. Seriously. I mean it this time.
So much has happened since.
I finished up "Dial M for Murder." It was largely unsuccessful box office-wise. I made some good friends though and got to work on my craft. For Hannukah, I went up to Northern Cali to visit my Cousin Jeremy, Aunt Barbara, and Uncle Ron. Jeremy threw a nice shindig. On New Years, I just hung out with my roommates at home... mostly because I couldn't find anyone in town to go out with.
Then... it came. With a $400 ticket in hand, I drove downtown, got on the tram, hiked the 2.5 miles, bought the expensive food and merchandise, adorned myself in burnt orange, and breathed in the Pasadena air. I was at the 2006 Rose Bowl National Championship game between USC and Texas. My parents yelled at me before the game for spending so much on a ticket - afterwards, they wish they had gone too. I know I'm a little biased because my team won, but I believe this will go down in history as the greatest football game of all time. The hype was so high that few believed the actual game could live up to it... they were wrong. The game not only lived up to the hype - it surpassed it! With 8 minutes left in the game, Texas was down by 12 points. They won the game 41-38. There were so many twists and turns, miraculous plays, controversial calls, amazing super-human players, and winning streaks on the line. I couldn't write a better story than this game. Texas walked away national champions by vanquishing the dragon known as USC.
Shortly after the Rose Bowl, I began working on my own project - Monty Py-thong. Brett and I teamed up as directors/producers and began casting for an all-female cast of Monty Python sketches. We found a nice group of girls and began rehearsals. We soon went up in February, and we sold out every night. The theatre decided to extend us, which will start next month. These girls are talented and hard working, and I hope to work with them in the future (and keep them as friends as well).
I worked as an extra on "Close to Home" and almost almost almost walked away with a SAG voucher. Then I worked on "LA Forensics," which I will never work on again. That was one of the most unprofessional sets I have ever been on. Let's put it this way - the director would make out with his girlfriend between takes. That week was pretty awful for me. Among that show and other things, I also had a huge argument over price with a printer who I hired to print programs. He wanted to charge my about $3 per program... which is absolutely ridiculous whether it's in color or not. I ended up losing a lot of money, as we compromised on $100 for 60 programs. But then things picked up for a week, as Grama came into town! Mmmmm fud. I can't say that we did anything all that exciting, but we did see "Munich" and "The Pink Panther." I then got invited to go see a couple movie premiers - "Accepted" and "Click." "Accepted" was a great college-humor movie, which I was actually in (and saw myself). "Click" stars Adam Sandler as a guy who can control his life with a remote. It was a lot like Bruce Almighty, but better.
During a shownight for Monty Py-thong, I was asked to fill in for an actor who had to leave the country. The following night, I was up on stage in "Cyrano de Bergerac." With about 12 hours to rehearse (and two car accidents and two auditions later), I somehow pulled off my part. I have to say (even excluding me from the show) that this show was the most beautiful production I'd seen in some time. I was also cast and began rehearsals for "A Midsummer Night's Dream." We are still in rehearsals and go up next month.
Mid March came, and with it the annual softball tournament down in Fullerton. 4 days in a row, I drove down to Orange County to support my Texas softball team. I had asked my friend Desiree Williams to put me on the free ticket list, but she said there wasn't enough room. Instead, her Grandma bought me a weekend pass to all the games! After a victory against Washington, Desiree, her Grandma, and her mother all took me out for Cheesecake Factory! On another night, another player (Kacie Gaskin) and her parents took me out for dinner at BJ's. These players and their parents were so nice to me this week. They give Texans a good name. With my vocal strength leading the parents and fans, our softball team won the tournament against in-state rival Texas A&M. A national title this year looks promising.
Since the football championship, Texas has also won another national title - in women's indoor track & field. That makes 4 in the past year (Baseball, Football, Women's Indoor and Outdoor T&F). With our basketball team in the Sweet16, our tennis teams highly ranked, our men's swimming team's domination, and the aforementioned softball, we may be looking at even more national titles. One can only dream...
So that's it for now. Hopefully I'll get my computer reformatted sometime soon. Hopefully. It will happen. Seriously. Promise.
