Against The Grain

A giant resonating boom;
Ignition to all fun
Particles of dust and gas zoom
To create the glowing fiery sun
And this was still Natural

The swirling of seas
Rivers rapidly run
Formation of a cool breeze
The wind triumphantly won
And this was still Natural

The stage now set
Down center upon
The Natural Forces met
As the Earth finally spun
And this was still Natural

A congress of rocks and dirt
Piling dust by the ton
All came together unhurt
Welding the Universal One
But then something changed

The first cells grew
The great ironic pun
Smaller than morning dew
The powder of the gun
And this was not Natural

Iron forged, steel melted
Cans out of aluminum
Various Religious stones pelted
Priest, Rabbi, Cardinal, Nun
And this was not Natural

The Greek epic poems
And their beloved Jason
Adam wonderingly roams
Just to find his venison
And this was not Natural

The atomic bomb
A well planned garrison
Fight at Vietnam
All Natural movement done
Yet equilibrium established there
Between man and the sun
We can now go anywhere
For to understand Nature, we have won
